Current studies proved that creatine is safe. It has nothing to do with steroids which are very dangerous for your health.
Creatine is a substance that occurs naturally in your body and is stored in muscles and is the muscles energy source for real short 2-3 seconds bursts of movement. After that your body will burn ATP.
By ingesting more creatine into your system you will have more creatine available when you need it.
So if you have more you can do more? Unfortunately current studies have not been able to prove that creatine actually does what manufacturers claim it does but many people do swear by it though.
What we should consider is that maybe is more of a psycological boost than anything else. But if you want to give it a try then here are the things you need to know:
1. Buy only good high quality brands.
2. Creatine draws extra water into your muscles and dehydrates you in general so you have to drink water like mad.
3. You might initial gain in water weight.
4. You might experience some bloating.
5. It takes muscles 6 weeks from the start of a program to begin adding additional muscle.
